Our client is a platform company leveraging the immune differences between humans and animals to find the next generation of anti-inflammatory therapeutics. They will develop a series of spin-out companies from IP generated by fundamental research. The first company has IP to develop inhibitors and activators of the Gasdermin family of proteins. Gasdermin D, for example, is a primary drivers of inflammatory cell death in humans but is absent from the Carnivora and birds. The inflammatory cell death driven by this protein is profound and it is a novel target for conditions such as ischemic stroke and other cardiovascular diseases.
They are looking for a Chair to help found and build the parent company and develop the IP for the first spin out. They anticipate a US focus and are most likely to raise series A money in the USA so the role holder if not US based, needs extensive US experience. The role holder requires extensive expertise in building and driving a preclinical a drug development start up. The Chair will bring governance, leadership skills and strategic thinking with strong application. Dogged and overwhelmingly positive, self-motivated, hardworking and tenacious. Good networks in the investor community are required and a track record of raising significant funds.
The role requires 2 days a week. Currently the role is not remunerated although there will be equity.
