Position: Human Resources Manager (fractional role 1 to 2 days a week)

Our client is an extremely well-funded French based biotech company focused on the development of antibody drug conjugates for high unmet need diseases such as cancer.

The client has most of its employees in France so requires in depth knowledge of  the French system. However, with hires also in the Netherlands and California, USA they need someone who is versatile and able to deal with HR issues in these countries as well.  The team is currently 17 but will expand to about 30 over the next approx. 12 months.

The company is seeking support with, but not limited to :-

  • Assisting with recruitment both direct hires and those made with the support of external recruiters
  • Assisting with offer negotiations and setting up contracts with new employees
  • Assist hiring managers in introducing new employees to the company
  • Liaising with HR payroll companies in France, the Netherlands and California
  • Managing IP compensation for French employee-inventors
  • Keeping track of holidays and sick leave for all employees
  • Assisting with setting up goals and objectives and annual performance reviews
  • Managing the company team calendar

 

Thus, the role requires an HR professional who is comfortable and confident working in a small, entrepreneurial, agile scientific business where you need to be adaptable to provide support where needed. Reporting to the senior leadership team the role holder will have excellent communication and negotiation skills. Additionally, diplomacy and level-headedness, and being well versed in the required regulations and procedures but with judgement and foresight to not be a slave to them, is required. Ideally, based in France, but an alternate EU location is possible if the role holder has significant expertise in the French employment landscape. Fluent French and English is required.
